"The culture of the child cannot enter the classroom until it has entered the consciousness of the teacher" Session 3: Gaining a richer knowledge of ERO and NZC. 1st Presentation of ERO Report released today: "Directions for Learning: The New Zealand Curriculum Principles, and Teaching as Inquiry" (Robyn Gibbs - Wellilngton Office - and Julie Foley - Christchurch Office) In early 2010, the Ministry of Education asked the Education Review Office (ERO) to conduct an initial evaluation, and a follow up evaluation one year later, to investigate how schools were using the eight principles [NZC, p9] and the teaching as inquiry process [NZC, p39] as outlined in The New Zealand Curriculum. This is the report. Phase Two of this project will take place in Term 3 2011 and there will be another report in mid 2012.
